The Journey to
The Main Program

I made a short film about the death.

“Everyone thinks differently about death.
For some people, death is a good thing, for some it is a bad thing.
I wanted to imagine my own afterlife. I want to show my perspective of the death.
I want to depict the journey from “the before program” to “the main program.”

I see life as a "before program"
and death as "the main program.”

I chose this theme because I often think about the death, because I find it interesting.
I keep getting questions in my head when I think about death. Something that is so normal but yet so mysterious because no one knows exactly what will happen. Because of my faith, I also often think about death. What happens when I die? How does that feel? I always think about these questions.

I researched people who have had a near-death experience, and interviewed my father about it, because he also had a near-death experience. But then the question came: “How can I believe what they experienced? How can I be sure that this will also happen to me when I die?” These ethical questions occurred to me. And then I thought “why do I have to delve into a certain near-death experience, or make an investigation from there, if I can also depict the afterlife (what I think it will be like) in fiction itself.”
And then I found my subject.

I want to delve into the fiction side, because I want to work with fiction later in my life. Because I love fiction, I grew up with it. That's why I thought this was also a good opportunity to get into fiction. I'm going to imagine my own afterlife, the afterlife of what I think it will be like. The journey from the supporting program (life) to the main program (hereafter). This film is intended to make the viewer think about death, and think about their afterlife. But then from my perspective, how I see the afterlife. I do this with the medium of image and sound.
